How much do AI training jobs pay? (Realistic rates)

Updated 31 Oct 2026

Pay varies a lot by platform, your field and your country. These ranges come from what the platforms themselves published as of late 2026. See each platform review for details.

Type of work Typical pay Examples
Microtasks and surveys A few dollars to ~$15/hr Clickworker, CloudResearch Connect (~$15/hr)
Entry-level AI evaluation $15-$30/hr Mindrift entry level, Handshake AI evaluator (up to $17/hr)
Generalist AI training Up to ~$50/hr DataAnnotation generalist (up to $50/hr)
Bilingual / language experts $30-$65/hr micro1 bilingual roles
Domain experts (finance, law, STEM) $60-$125/hr Mercor ($92/hr average), Alignerr ($80/hr average)
Top coding / medical experts $125-$150+/hr DataAnnotation coding, OneForma physician reviewers

What affects your rate

  • Your field: coding, medicine, law and finance pay the most.
  • Your country: some platforms (for example CrowdGen) adjust rates by location.
  • Quality score: most platforms track your accuracy and give more and better work to top performers.
  • Availability: “up to” rates assume there is work. Projects can pause, so your monthly income depends on how many platforms you are active on.

Realistic expectations

Most people start with one or two assessments, wait days or weeks to be accepted, and then earn irregularly at first. People who reach steady income usually qualify on several platforms and specialise in one high-paying area.
